MOTHERING SUNDAY

You may be wondering what we are up to at The Old Calf Barn now. Mothering Sunday is not until 14 March 2021!

Ah yes, but this is news of a very different kind…

Number 9 Films have recently been in close proximity to us here at Rotten Row Farm, filming a version of the novel by Graham Swift titled ‘Mothering Sunday’. The film will feature such stellar talents as Olivia Colman, Odessa Young, Josh O’Connor and Colin Firth.

The story takes place on Sunday 30 March (Mothering Sunday) 1924. Jane Fairchild, orphan and housemaid, has no mother to visit, so she spends the day with the son of nearby neighbours - a day that will change her life forever, in unimaginable ways.

The book is set in the environs of Henley-on-Thames, and the location search team exclusively told JML they were keen to feature our authentic surrounding landscape in the film.

Will Jolyon Marshall secure a cameo part? Might the stars take the opportunity to register with JML while in the vicinity, in the hope of a second career in the Watch and Jewellery trade?

Whatever transpires on the day will be treated in the strictest confidence, as is recruitment best protocol - but at least this gives you a “heads-up” as to where some of the best names of stage, screen and (of course) recruitment are to be found!
