Long established and greatly revered in their domestic market place, our client is a trusted brand distributor with an excellent reputation. Now they are expanding their horizons and establishing a new business here, for which they are seeking their first company sales ambassador to be based in England.
The product categories they wish to bring to market include a Fashion Watch brand, a much loved ‘Writing Instrument’ name, and an innovative ‘Small Leather Goods’ marque. The launch of a second wave of merchandise comprising fine jewellery is also planned.
The successful candidate will need to have existing experience in Field Sales, ideally having successfully distributed brands to Retail Jewellers, whether regionally or via National Accounts.
In the first instance, your remit will truly be one of business development - our client has no trading partners in the UK yet - and the goal is to build a vibrant new countrywide distribution business.
Confident in your cold calling abilities whoever your target audience, you will be equally persuasive when pitching to select major retail players as when talking to independent business owners – who may in fairness be able to reach speedier decisions to stock - and your natural ability to adapt your approach accordingly will stand you in good stead.
This role absolutely calls for a self-starter who is not daunted by the enormity of the potential challenge, but who recognises it as a blank canvas full of opportunity, with great support always on hand, allowing you to carve out a niche and build a career of which in years to come you can genuinely be proud.
Wherever in the country you may be based, you will need to cherry pick the best potential retail partners, area by area. Once you have established sales momentum and started to create a national network of distributors, new field sales colleagues will be appointed to pick up the baton in the various regions, and with your knowledge and understanding of what needs to be done and how, you will contribute to that selection process.
For a short time, while you recruit, train and lead the others, you may be responsible for a more contained area of independents; thereafter your focus may turn to opening more national account business, and the stage after that could well be to manage the whole country!
Thus, while starting as a sole sales pioneer, you may ultimately follow in the footsteps of various industry luminaries who today head up significant businesses, having started with the very same challenge that excites you now.
