Part of Britain’s most established family jewellery group, recent years have seen heavy investment in achieving the collective corporate goal of being the best in city - be that Glasgow, Edinburgh, Cardiff or Southampton. Our client’s passion, spanning six generations to date, is selling luxurious collections of watches alongside the finest jewellery merchandise.

The General Manager title is deliberately broad, encompassing every expected aspect of running a successful top-end retail business. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, your accountability will be crystal clear and wide-ranging, from store sales turnover and profitability, to customer service, to team development – all equally important to our client.
Your career so far will already have embraced the successful management of a high profile retail business - whether independently-owned or part of a multiple group matters not – it is your professionalism that will be the key to your selection.
However beautiful the bricks and mortar may be, modern retail involves so much more than simple operational tightness within those four walls. For this reason, experience of regional management or perhaps a secondment into the field training sphere, demonstrating your retail professionalism on a wider scale, will be highly prized.
This broader insight, applied and perfected within our client’s product speciality, will produce amazing results. Your sales and support staff will adore their daily challenge and strive to deliver the best possible outcomes for the wider business, our client’s carefully chosen partner brands, and – crucially – the store’s existing and newly-attracted clientele.
Under your vigilant eye, showroom standards will never be allowed to deviate from pristine in readiness to sell, and all sales floor personnel will be keenly aware of health and safety and stock security requirements.
Administratively adept, confident and accomplished at delegating tasks to your colleagues, you are able to focus and inspire your team to deliver superlative customer experience, including after-sales and service. Strategic recruitment to add value to your existing in-store team is an area where you particularly excel, understanding that success lies not just in the initial hiring but more importantly in continuing to inspire your new recruits to perform to the maximum.
As the business figurehead in your location, you will be expected to network locally in order to identify wider opportunities for the store, quickly gaining recognition and winning meaningful new corporate custom.
